Controlled Removal

Tree Removal

Tree removal is the controlled, rigged dismantling of a tree when it is dead, hazardous, or must be cleared, taken down piece by piece to protect everything around it.

Removal is a last option, recommended when a tree is dead, structurally failing, or in a location where it cannot safely remain. When a tree does have to come down, how it comes down matters as much as the decision itself.

Because the work is performed by a climber on rope and harness rather than from a bucket truck, tight backyards, narrow side yards, and properties equipment cannot enter are all workable. No heavy machine is driven across the lawn. Limbs are rigged and lowered under control rather than dropped.

For the largest and most complex removals, crane-assisted removal is used when a job calls for it. Trees over structures and difficult, hazardous situations are routine work here.

01The Process

What to expect, step by step.

  1. 01

    Risk and access review

The arborist evaluates the tree, targets below it, and how to bring it down safely given the access.

  2. 02

    Rigged dismantling

The tree is taken apart in sections, with limbs lowered on rigging lines rather than dropped, protecting structures and landscaping.

  3. 03

    Crane where needed

For heavy or high-risk pieces, a crane lifts sections clear of the property.

  4. 04

    Cleanup and stump

Debris is removed and the site is left clean. Stump grinding is available as a follow-on.

The tree is removed safely with the surrounding property protected, the site cleaned, and options explained for the remaining stump.

02Questions

About tree removal.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Miami-Dade?

Miami-Dade County requires a permit to remove most trees, with limited exemptions for certain species and prohibited invasives. An on-site assessment confirms whether a permit is needed and Subtropical Arborists can prepare the application.

Can you remove a tree in a tight backyard?

Yes. Because the work is done by a climber rather than a bucket truck, trees in tight backyards, narrow side yards, and properties equipment cannot enter are all removable without driving machinery across the lawn.
